It is a fact that has vexed gun control proponents for decades, but the vast majority of gun crimes are committed by individuals who obtained their guns illegally. Just five years ago in 2018, PoliticFact did their damndest to prove that truth as a falsehood only to end up stating the following at the end of their long expose.
“It’s accurate, but needed more information. We rate it mostly true.” That’s like a husband and wife fighting and when it turns out that the husband is objectively wrong about where he left the keys he says, “It’s accurate that I lost them, but it doesn’t tell the full story. Still though, you are mostly right.”
There is no escaping the fact that legal gun owners are the least of your worries when it comes to your personal safety. In fact, legal gun owners may be your only hope when your personal safety comes under threat.
When legal gun owners state that you can have our guns when you pry them from our cold dead hands, we mean it for your safety as much as we mean it for our own. This type of sheepdog mentality is something that the left will never understand, because they don’t want to understand it.
The Truth About Guns In America Is Incontrovertible
Winston Churchill once famously stated that, “The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.”
The incontrovertible truth is that guns are used defensively in the United States as many as 1.7 million times per year according to a national firearms survey conducted by the survey firm Centiment. This survey has been cited in prestigious journals such as the Georgetown McDonough School of Business and offers us highly credible and comprehensive information.
Now, what the survey likely didn’t ask is whether or not the gun owner checked the personal politics of the person they were defending. Certainly, they would know their own politics, but when a madman goes on a stabbing or shooting rampage in a local Wal-Mart, legal gun owners step up for all. The men and the women. The adults and the children. The conservatives and the liberals.
The left might attack that truth with malice and they most certainly deride it with ignorance, but in the end, there it is. When a legal gun owner witnesses a crime or act of violence and it just happens to be the one day they decided not to carry their firearm, a sickening feeling grows in the pit of their stomach.
They know the police response time in America has increased due to personnel shortages and if they had only carried, this violence would end now. To our friends on the left, you can have our guns when you pry them from our cold dead hands because we want to protect you and your family as well.
You may not understand that, but not everyone has that sheepdog mentality. Some people, we suppose, are just destined to be the sheep.
If You Are A Fan Of Liberal Democracy You Should Be A Fan Of Guns
When we speak of Liberal Democracy, we speak of the western world and western civilization as opposed to domestic liberal politics. This is the idea that individual liberty should be valued and safeguarded as outlined in our constitution.
This is something that your average liberal loves to support, but gets a little foggy on just how that liberal democracy is sustained against the inevitability of government overreach.
That’s why we found it amusing when the left derided the acts of January 6th and complained about just how close we came to losing our Democracy. You can’t claim that Democracy is under attack in one breath and then speak of disarming the citizenry in another. Either you don’t really think Democracy is under attack or you are just remarkably naïve as to how one would fight back if that were actually the case.
To our friends on the left, you can have our guns when you pry them from our cold dead hands because gun owners not only want to protect liberal democracy, but understand exactly how that is done when tyranny arises. Not everyone has that sheepdog mentality, but for the good of this country, we thank God some people know how to deal with a wolf when they see one.
